[CURRENTLY BASED IN BERLIN]

Dance producer and manager

Comprehensive creative production services for artists, dance companies, festivals, and institutions to help foster sustainable project growth and offer innovative problem-solving within your team.

Hello, I’m Polina Bulat, a dance producer and manager based in Berlin. Rooted in journalism, public relations, and audience engagement initiatives, I fully transitioned to producing dance projects and managing artists in 2022, after relocating from my native Ukraine.

[ABOUT]

Freed from the constraints of a traditional academic path, I have developed my expertise through direct engagement with the industry and connections both inside and outside the field. This has given me a comprehensive view of dance production, enabling me to understand both the processes and outcomes from multiple perspectives. My approach is characterized by a holistic, hands-on method underscored by systematic thinking, clear communication, and empathy.

I strongly believe that dance is a powerful medium for profound communication, capable of conveying personal and collective experiences and acting as a gateway to our shared humanity. With these beliefs and values, together with my resilience and adaptability, I am dedicated to providing each project with personalized attention, supported by a solid framework that ensures productive and trustworthy collaborations.

[WHAT DO I OFFER]

For artists, dance companies, festivals, and institutions, I offer my participation in projects as a full-cycle creative producer (from concept development to distribution of the finished work) and as an asset to your team for a specific task.

I aim at sustainable development of projects and professional relationships, offering deep immersion in your ideas and a creative approach to problem-solving.

Languages: English, Ukrainian, Russian, German (beginner)

Each project is different and requires different emphasis, but any collaboration begins with a dialogue, and possibly more than one, to get to the heart of your needs and our shared understanding of them.

A collaborative work by Ukrainian female artists, "Cossachka" combines dance, live singing, and electronic music, exploring female strength and resilience within Ukrainian culture and the context of warfare. It delves into the collective female experience, manifesting as a ceremonial stage expression that captures the essence of womanhood.

The premiere of the performance, independently marketed and promoted by the team, sold out all 400 seats in a city theater. "Cossachka" holds the potential to be embedded in festival programs as a format for research residencies, engaging local artists and audiences, and serving as a touring piece.

Completed in just 2 months, the project attracted over 200 attendees in wartime Kharkiv.

"In C" rehearsals were conducted via Zoom across Berlin, Kharkiv, and Kyiv, with 5 dancers in Kharkiv and 5 in Kyiv joining sessions led by Orlando Rodriguez from Sasha Waltz & Guests, alongside independent practice.
